Cris Skinner

Cris began her journey in education at the Centro Internazionale Studi Montessoriani in Bergamo, Italy, earning a diploma signed by Maria Montessori’s son. She later taught at Catlin Gabel School, where she trained under Kit Hawkins. Her path then led her to Dorothy Blosser Whitehead, founder of Language Skills Therapy, who became both mentor and inspiration.

Over the years, she has tutored several hundred students through LST, many with complex learning needs. While well versed in structured literacy methods, she believes this work requires more—listening closely and understanding each child. She values helping students build skills, confidence, and a sense of possibility, and finds great meaning in the work she does at LST.
