“The tutor we found through Language Skills Therapy has fundamentally changed my son’s life.  Not only has his reading improved, but his desire to read has grown exponentially.  He no longer gets frustrated and gives up on reading or writing assignments.  But the most important change in my son is his confidence.  He now has confidence in himself that has positively impacted every aspect of his life.

The intake process for Language Skills Therapy was very easy!  We have been working with our tutor for 1.5 years and I am grateful to her everyday for all the skills she has taught my son.  I highly recommend Language Skills Therapy!”

“Julie has been a blessing to us. She worked so well with our son, finding common interests and was very flexible with scheduling. He has improved so much in his reading and writing skills and we are confident he will succeed in High School.”

“It would be nearly impossible to overstate the academic improvement, as well as the very positive psychological and emotional growth and the over-all confidence that our daughters have experienced since they began tutoring with our LST tutor.  While the results speak for themselves, we believe that the success of our girls in learning math and reading skills is more nuanced than simple quantitative measurement would reflect.  Our daughters look forward to going.  They are proud and confident.

What is more important is that their progress is objective, measurable, and life changing.  Now they read books to us at bedtime or at least help to read the more difficult books.  They are genuinely more confident in math and reading, and for our younger daughter the alphabet, sounds, and many words.  They are not at the top of their classes, and may not be, but the academic progress they have made in just about 16 months is astounding.  They are both much happier and more confident at school and at home.”

“My son started working with Stacie in 1st grade. When he started with her he didn't even know his letter names or sounds. Her method of teaching with the Orton Gillingham method has done wonders for him. He now knows all his letter names and sounds and is starting to read early reader books. We are so thankful for all the help she has offered him!”

“Both my sons worked with Stacie. The progress I have seen my children make in reading, and spelling has been amazing! I credit this progress to Stacie and the high quality multisensory approach she uses. My children's teachers are also impressed with the progress they have made. Stacie has helped equip my children with the tools needed to achieve educational success! I am so grateful!”

“Stacie has done a great job tailoring a program specific to my daughter's needs!”

“Dear Mrs. Plopper,
I just want to take  a moment to tell you thank you for changing Amber and Jacob’s lives. You have been more than a tutor, you are a cheerleader, confidant, and mentor. Thank you for all your patience with all the kids and our ever-changing schedule. I love how you integrate history, education and fun into your lessons.
I don’t believe it was chance that we were matched up with you for tutoring. We had been waiting several months. Our whole church was praying for Amber’s reading and we found you! Mary Poppins!
Thank you!”

— Sheila

“Merry Christmas Mrs. P.
Thank you for everything. I am very thankful I have you for my reading teacher. I am just so happy for that. I learn a lot. I feel like I know more bigger words and tricky words. You did a really good job on me. Things I like about you and fun, funny, caring, loving, happy. Thank you for that too.
Love, Q

“We can't believe the improvement we are seeing.  Jamie lacked confidence and felt self-conscious about her reading. She was behind grade level and very aware of how much easier reading seemed for all of her friends. We just met with her teacher, and Jamie was AT grade level with the end-of-year iReady testing. We can't believe the improvement we have seen over the past several months!”

"I can't imagine what Seth’s life would have been like without your tutoring. It has literally been life changing for him. When he began with you, he was just over two years behind grade level in reading, and now he's reading AT grade level. We cannot convey how thankful we are that you were able to work with him."

“My niece was profoundly dyslexic. She did not read until she was 12 years old. She told me that when she was younger, her biggest fear was that there would be a scavenger hunt at a birthday party, and she wouldn't be able to read the clues. Eventually, she was able to get the help she needed. She was homeschooled because of her reading struggles through 8th grade and began attending public school in 9th grade. She graduated high school with A's and B's! She just recently graduated from WSUV in web design, and is currently working in her field.

My nephew was also profoundly dyslexic. He didn't know his times tables until he was 14, which is common for students who have dyslexia. He was able to get O-G tutoring and graduated from Purdue University with a double major in math and computer science He now works for Google. These life trajectories would have been very different if he had not received this specialized reading instruction.”

“We have been so blessed to be able to work with you. You are so kind to make space to see Celia and you are so good at meeting Celia's needs. You absolutely have been Celia's favorite tutor! She really benefits from the way you are able to collaborate with her strengths and challenges. You give space for her to process while also being able to encourage her to do the hard work. You have been such an important part of Celia's growth in reading skills and with personal confidence!”

“We so appreciate your working with Bryanna over the past year. She was never really eager to go, but I think you definitely made it as enjoyable as possible for her, and I think she recognizes the benefit. Thank you for that, because it has helped her to see what is possible with some effort and help!”

My grandson, Colin, is going into 4th grade. He has never been able to read even a little, although he can do his other subjects. And he is well-aware that his classmates can read. It turns out his other grandfather and his mother’s sister suffered from dyslexia, so there is a family connection.

Last fall he said with true anguish: ”What happens if I can’t read in 4th grade? What happens if I can’t read in 6th grade, or 8th grade?” He had no difficulty imagining what seemed to be an inevitable future. That’s the same future that faces so many other kids.

In December our family got a tutor through Language Skills Therapy and in the ensuing months Colin’s anxiety waned as his reading ability grew. Our tutor has had to go beyond teaching the basics. She has also worked to undo the resistance and coping mechanisms Colin has adopted to tolerate school. This will take time.

Orton-Gillingham tutoring practiced by a skilled and patient tutor is the ONLY thing that is saving Colin from a really painful daily experience at school. A successful 4th grade lies ahead. Language Skills Therapy is literally saving our child’s life.”

“Hi Nellie, thank you!  Brad is really enjoying working with you. I think this has been the missing piece for him for a long time. We appreciate all you’re doing for him. Brad really does enjoy working with you. Sometimes you’re [sic] description of what you were working on makes me want to have some tutoring too 😂”

"I can't imagine what Sam’s life would have been like without your tutoring. It has literally been life changing for him. When he began with you, he was just over two years behind grade level in reading, and now he's reading AT grade level. We cannot convey how thankful we are that you were able to work with him."

“It [took] five years struggling in elementary school for us to finally get the support needed to realize my daughter was dyslexic. We were educated about the Orton-Gillingham approach to dyslexia, and we received a list of potential tutors when we contacted Language Skills Therapy…We were matched with a tutor and the results were evident almost from the first session. My daughter receives weekly OG tutoring, even in the summer, and now in 7th grade she is correcting my spelling! She transitioned to middle school confidently, and during parent-teacher conferences her teachers are surprised when I say she is dyslexic…My daughter’s life has been changed with this tutoring. I believe she will go to college and have a more successful career and life because of this tutoring. Every dyslexic child deserves this tutoring to have the opportunity to reach their full capabilities. I would recommend Language Skills Therapy to anyone interested in supporting their dyslexic child.”

"It’s been a few years but I wanted to extend my deep appreciation for the part you played in Jackie’s journey. She’s continued to value her education and graduated with straight A’s. She also is in constant quest for  knowledge as a student of life. We continue to step aside as her drive has always surpassed ours. She will be attending the University of __ to study theater production and journalism. With my eternal gratitude"

“Teaching my youngest daughter to read, from the very beginning, was night-and-day different than teaching my oldest. Reading always seemed a struggle and spelling wasn’t even recognizable. It look five years struggling in elementary school for us to finally get the support needed to realize my daughter was dyslexic. We were educated about the Orton-Gillingham approach to dyslexia, and we received a list of potential tutors when we contacted Language Skills Therapy. After five long years, the rest happened at light speed. We were matched with a tutor and the results were evident almost from the first session. My daughter receives weekly OG tutoring, even in the summer, and now in 7th grade she is correcting my spelling! She transitioned to middle school confidently, and during parent-teacher conferences her teachers are surprised when I say she is dyslexic.

“My daughter Amber was diagnosed in 2nd grade with dyslexia. She started working with Stacie shortly after getting her diagnosis. Within just a few months I noticed many changes within my daughter. She began to gain confidence in herself and her reading abilities. She not only was reading on her own but also willingly reading aloud, and gave more effort in her school work. She always looks forward to working with Stacie. She has seriously changed her life and I am so thankful we found her.”
